When I worked at JoAnns over the summer of 2005, one of my coworkers wanted to make a tiny handbag. I decided to go ahead and take pictures of the process to make a quick tutorial. I finally got around to making it one big photo instead of a series of them and a whole lot of writing. The final size was 7x7x2 and cost like... nothing. It's easy to plug different numbers in to come up with a different sized bag. If you use it, let me know and post a photo. Feel free to post a link to it or redistribute it so long as you keep my links at the bottom.

Edited Aug. 1, 2007: I have recently made another tutorial for a messenger styled laptop bag. If you found this easy (which I hope you do), the new tutorial should be pretty understandable too. Check it out here: [link]

Interfacing does a couple things. It keeps the shape of what's made (so the bag doesn't slouch over and cave in on itself) and it can reinforce lightweight fabrics to reduce any possible damage from use (I used quilt weight fabrics which would be completely unsuitable on their own). In some cases, a fusible interfacing can keep fabrics that ravel and fray from doing so. If you're working with heavier materials like canvas then you could skip it depending on what you're making.

Ah, have you ever heard of a Quillow? It's a quilt that folds into a pocket making it a pillow. Its easy and fun to make, I think people would like to see a tutorial on that ^^ It's very handy on car trips.

Hey, when I get around to having a clean house with an iron and ironing board (and someone doesn't take my camera for three months) I very well might! ;)
